Commercial Photography in Montreal - Branding, Product & Advertising

CM Images - Montreal and Ottawa Branding and Advertising Photography Specialists

Your business isn't generic. Your photography shouldn't be either.

Your website, advertising and social media all have something in common: they need images that make people stop and pay attention.

We create commercial photography for Montreal businesses that need more than a technically correct picture of what they sell. Whether you're launching a product, building a brand, creating an advertising campaign or simply tired of using the same generic images everyone else is using, we'll create photographs that give your business something to say.

So what is commercial photography, exactly?

Commercial photography is photography created to help a business communicate, market or sell something. That could mean a product, a service, a company, a destination, a restaurant or an entire brand.

Sometimes the job is straightforward: show the product clearly and beautifully. Other times, the photograph needs to create a mood, tell a story or make someone imagine themselves using the product.

We specialize in three core areas of commercial photography:

Branding Photography

When your business needs to look like your business.

Your brand is essentially your company’s identity. It’s how people perceive it and their opinion of who your products and services are for. The most successful businesses are the ones who have not only identified who their ideal customers are, but who have created a brand image that resonates with those ideal customers. That image is unique to the company, making all of their messaging clearly identifiable as theirs. Smart brands know that the logo is just the beginning.

Your brand is more than just a logo — it’s a story. Our branding photography sessions are tailored to visually communicate your brand’s personality, values, and vision. From corporate lifestyle shoots to behind-the-scenes imagery, we help you build a cohesive visual identity for websites, social media, press kits, and promotional content.

Product Photography

When the product has to do the talking.

Clean product photography

Sometimes the photo has to get out of the way and let the product speak for itself. A product, with or without packaging, can sometimes be the best approach. Traditionally referred to as catalogue photography, these photos feature the product on a seamless, solid-colour background - usually white and occasionally black. This is the way to go for photos meant to accompany an online listing on an e-commerce site.

Creative product photography

Other products do better with a bit more theatricality. When you get creative with the setup of the photo by playing with elements such as the lighting and various props, you can start to generate some interest in the product itself by using appealing visuals. These shots are great for banner images on your website.

Advertising Photography

When “nice photo” isn't enough.

This is where the creative juices really start flowing! Advertising photography is meant to help support a larger marketing campaign. The shots will incorporate elements that help to tell a story, create a mood or send a message. Lifestyle photography is incredibly effective in advertising. These are the real scroll-stopping images.

From digital ads to billboard campaigns, advertising photography must be impactful and aligned with your marketing goals. We work closely with your creative team or marketing agency to produce images that not only look great but are also conversion-focused and brand-consistent.

Where can I use these photos?

A commercial shoot shouldn't leave you with 20 beautiful photographs that only work on your website.

When we plan a shoot, we can consider where the images will actually be used—from your homepage and social media to advertising, print, packaging, presentations and PR.

The photos from a well-planned shoot can be used for:

Website
Hero images, service pages, About pages, blog posts

Social media
Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, paid social

Advertising
Digital ads, print campaigns, billboards, promotional material

Print & PR
Brochures, magazines, press releases, media kits

Sales & presentations
Pitch decks, proposals, trade shows, presentations

How does the process work?

A commercial shoot starts well before the camera comes out!

11 - Figure out what the images need to accomplish

Who are you trying to reach? What are you selling? Where will they appear? These are important questions that need to be answered in our initial consultation. We’ll go over your branding and design a shoot that aligns with how you’re positioning your brand.

2 - Develop the visual approach

Once we’ve got a clear vision of what we want to accomplish, we can start planning out the details of the shoot - lighting, colour scheme, props, location, models and composition will all be planned out at this point.

3 - Shoot

This is where the plan meets reality! Time to bring the vision to life.

4 - Post-Production

After the shoot, we’ll go over the photos to find the best shots for your concept. We’ll then take care of all of the editing to give the image the final, polished look you’re after.

Why Choose CM Images Media?

You get a photographer, not a preset.

Every project is approached according to the product, brand and intended use.

The lighting is intentional.

Whether the image needs to be clean and controlled or dramatic and atmospheric, lighting is part of the concept—not something added as an afterthought.

You don't need to know how to pose, style or light a shoot.

That’s my job!

Your images need to work, not just look good.

The goal is photography that helps communicate what your business actually does.
